Wine & Cheese Pairings at Longo’s                                          12:30 – 2 p.m., Friday 29 November

Be an informed host(ess)—just in time for Christmas learn what cheeses go with various wines. Longo’s does a great job putting together cheeses with suitable wines—imagine the work that goes into that--  . If last year is indicative, there will be lots of cheese to taste and gobble up!  

Maximum 20 people, $25 pp, at the Cornwall store.

 

DECEMBER

Festival of Lights & Niagara Wine Tour with dinner                  Monday 9 December

A 2.5 hour tour of the Niagara Lights--Each winter the city of Niagara Falls is transformed by spectacular lighting displays. The tour will be exclusive to us (CPCNO) as we have passed the requirement for minimum number of participants but there is still lots of room on the bus for you and your friends.

Included is:

  • A visit to the Jackson Triggs Winery

  • Dinner at Betty’s Restaurant in Chippewa

  • A 2.5 hour tour of the Niagara Lights

Price $120

Pickup time at QE Park Community Centre is 1 p.m., returning approximately 9 p.m.

 

Christmas Social                                                                                    10 a.m. 12 December

The Glen Abbey site has been locked in for us once more. We are delighted to bring back for our entertainment “Jay’s One Man Band” who will lead us in a Christmas singalong. Lunch will be at 12:30.  Price $50 members, $55 non-members.

Tickets will go on sale in October.

We are bringing back this hugely successful event at the same locations as last year: Hopedale Bowl in the South Oakville Mall and Bronte Sports Kitchen for lunch.

Pre-ordered lunch choices are:

  • Fajita wrap

Trivia Night at 5 west brewpub                                  7 p.m. Wednesday 29 January

Location is 3600 Dundas St, Burlington in the Headon Forest area of Burlington. 

Trivia is free, but come enjoy some food and drinks while you participate. Please sign up if you are interested so that the pub can set aside the right number of tables for us.

Ottawa Tulip Festival Tour                         17-19 May 2020

DAY ONE: Diefenbunker Cold War Museum 

DAY TWO: Royal Canadian Mint, Tulip display at Dow’s Lake, National Art Gallery, Canadian War Museum OR Canadian History Museum

DAY THREE: Picton Wine Tour (2 Wineries) 

YOUR TOUR includes:

  • Return transportation by deluxe highway motor coach

  • Admissions to attractions listed as “Highlights of the Tour”

This activity will be set up slightly differently than our usual activities. 

  1. You will sign up as usual, providing only your name and phone number. This information will be submitted to the tour company office and they will call you to make booking and payment arrangements. We recommend you pay with a credit card, if your card carried cancellation insurance so much the better!

  2. A $250 non-refundable deposit is required by end-January with final payment coming out April 1. (The venues have to be paid 45 days in advance.)

  3. The tour will accommodate a minimum of 35 people. If we cannot reach that number, Shirlie (our guide) will contact other clubs (Ajax?) to adequately fill the bus. 

  4. Cost remains at $599 double and$799 single. 

 

You can purchase cancellation insurance from Sanderson Travel Insurance--call 1-877-226-8728 (Brian at extension 225) and tell them HNA Travels sent you. (Note that this will cost in the neighbourhood of $100 but does cover return of the deposit.)
